Portion of a larger testimonio (stamped pages 13-92 (pages 37-40 are missing)) concerning the trial against José Ignacio Cañedo
Zamorano for his siding with rebel forces in the war for Mexican Independence. The earliest date referenced is May 11, 1814
in which Cañedo Zamorano declared that he was born in the Hacienda del Cabezón and was 36 years of age on May 17, 1814. He
also stated that he had been imprisoned the previous two years in Toluca and now in Guadalajara. Also includes a separate
document, on sealed paper and foliated 1-9 (folio 6 is missing), dated February through September 1815, concerning a civil
case for child support brought by a mistress of Cañedo Zamorana, Dolores Andrade, against the "albaceas" (executors) of his
estate, sisters-in-law Mariá and Josefa Arroniz. Andrade is suing for child support of her daughter, María de Jesús, whom
Cañedo Zamorano recognized as his own. The executors are delaying the payment of support because the inventories of the estate
have not been finalized.

When the vanguard of Father Hidalgo's army of revolution approached Guadalajara, Mexico in the first week of November, 1810,
it was greeted miles from the city by two men, José Ignacio Cañedo Zamorano and Rafael Villasenor, who were chosen by the
city council to offer the city on the condition that the army respect the lives and possessions of the citizens. In 1812,
Cañedo Zamorano was arrested for his alleged role in the occupation and died in prison, likely by execution, sometime before
the civil case was filed in February 1815.
